Corby Railway Station reopened in 2009 following a successful but very long campaign. It is a great asset for the town helping with the town’s regeneration with London St Pancras being just 70 minutes away.

Corby Northbound is limited to one return service to Derby calling at Oakham,Melton Mowbray and East Midlands Parkway.

There is also a Melton Mowbray to London return service (pie train) via Corby but this and the Derby service run only Monday to Friday so do not offer flexible journey opportunities.

The WVR proposal is a welcome step forward to improve rail travel from Corby to Stamford and Peterborough and the North and Eastern Counties.

Corby is growing fast and rail development  must be incorporated. There is also a need for further Corby station improvements i.e. more car parking spaces, a second platform with foot bridge/lift and improved toilet facilities.

The green concept of WVR is appealing and should be supported by us all to ensure it is delivered. I believe the route will be well used by commuters and leisure/tourist passengers. I wish WVR well and you have my 100% backing.
